Following the offer of the Albuquerque Indian Center (AIC) to use its property at 105 Texas SE as a potential site for the Tiny Home Village, the committee is following these steps:
- Working out a governmental review and agreement between Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Indian Center.
- Applying for a zone change for the property, which is expected to be heard in the first quarter of 2019. The requested zone for the vacant parcel next to AIC’s building would be one that allows for an RV park similar to a Kampground of America (KOA) site.
- To develop a site plan based on the property. The Committee hired Baker Architecture+Design to develop the site plan, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019.
- To determine what renovation would need to be made to the existing AIC building(s), which would provide services and communal resources, and what new buildings would need to be constructed.
The Tiny Home Village will seek advocates and ambassadors to help shape the Village. Click here if you are interested in getting involved.
